Steaming Through Austria Schneebergbahn A Rack Railway to the top of the Schneeberg
ML-PDVD-32262 - In the lower ranges of the Alps there is a rack railway operating 2000 metres above sea level. The steam engines operating this line were built between 1897 to 1902 and are still in daily use. Through steep and difficult terrain the railway climbs 1200 metres. At half the distance water is refilled. Two tunnel systems have to be passed until it reaches the top of the mountain. Have a look at the new rail car as well. Enjoy this beautiful ride throguh the marvellous mountains of the Austrian Alps.
