Dean Chenoweth took the old miss bud up too 220 before it crashed{you can all look it up if you dont beleive me}...average speed has really went down...before he died on the columbia they were averging about 175..last few years 160ish...so many improvements you would think they would be going faster..but it is dangerous...but the nitro pistons would kill the new jet boats..lol fact:)

hydro plane racing is the most dangerous racing on earth.

yeah mate sure are 100% agree i driven a hydro.my father use to race, but my point was that prop driven hydros are alot faster then 205mph.but yeh ur right they are very diff

Yup, crazy stuff too. Not to take anything away from drag racing, butttt, these are both very different. I've been in drgboats, and kilo environments like this. Boats and cars. And no doubt, 0 to whatever with amazing acceleration is huge. But hanging onto something going that fast for an entire kilometer is a totally different, equally insane achievement. Another perspective: Lotsa people have run their cars up to 150. But how may have stayed up there for miles and miles? Very different.

prop driven hydros have bn well past 205mph the drag hydro boats r doing 250+mph in like 4.6seconds

I sold the piece of the prop that broke off a while back on ebay.. actually spoke the Joe little via phone and sent photos of the piece we found that day on the lake .. it is about 3miles from my home and we were just right of where the video was shot...

I dunno actually what broke first. mebbe the shaft and/or strut, and/or the prop?... which then took out the rudder.....
trkr27 (December 31, 1969 at 3:59 pm)
ouch! what threw the prop?

Bullshit... world record is 205mph in july 2007 for propeller driven hydro... what makes you think this beat that record in 2004??? |
